Keith Burgess, a fire protection engineer from Helsby, Cheshire, was a contestant on series 3 of the UK version of the show on 16 March 1999. He walked away with £64,000. Later he appeared on irish version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and won €32.000.

Trivia

  • After stating that he would walk away from his £32,000 question for the second time, the lights went up, which is usually only done when time runs out, a contestant misses or walks away from a question, or gets one of the milestone or top-tier questions right. This was probably an accident, as the lights operator had probably believed that Keith was actually going to walk away.
