Paul Beverley, a carpet estimator from Petersfield, Hampshire, was a contestant on series 2 of the UK version of the show on 2 & 3 January, 1999. He became the first contestant on the British version of the show to achieve the unfortunate distinction of missing the 12th question, plunging £32,000, as well as the first British contestant to leave with £32,000.
